Wednesday 6th of October saw the arrival of the delegation of the Panamanian Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Juan Carlos Varela Rodríguez at Holland Gateway. Mr. Varela was accompanied by Mr. Juan Carlos Pino, President of Tocumen International Airport of Panama, and several government officials. The purpose of the visit was to speak about Dutch-Panamanian cooperation on development of Tocumen Airport.
A first welcome and presentation was delivered by Micaela Dos Ramos, director of Holland Gateway, who addressed the concept of Holland Gateway, its mission and results, sparking both the curiosity as well as the appreciation of the vice president and the attendees. Mr. Jacques Hoendervangers, Schiphol Director Commercial Affairs, enlightened the delegation on the concepts and strategy Schiphol uses with regards to offering passengers a unique experience at the airport in order to distinguish itself and deliver high class, customer induced added value. The engaging presentation was succeeded by Ben Hasselman, director of business development at NACO, a daughter company of the DHV Group, and experts on airport development. His presentation focused on NACO’s expertise and track record on all aspects of planning and realization of airport buildings around the world.
The visit was concluded by a brief tour of Schiphol Plaza. While Mr. Pino followed up for further talks with NACO, Mr. Varela and the rest of his party then left for another important purpose of his two-day visit to the Netherlands: to sign a tax treaty between the Netherlands and Panama with Minister Jan Kees de Jager.
